How To Submit or Advertise
To advertise on Amazing Women Rock, please use our contact form.
There’s unlimited space on AWR for the gazillions of amazing women around the world, and AWR happily posts material from friends, fans, and followers. The more the merrier! And we need you to support us in return.
To get your stuff (i.e. stories, tributes, news items, poetry, photographs, music, inspiration, humour, etc.) on the site, you need to send it to us in way that makes it fast and easy to upload.
The process is straightforward, here's what to do:
1) Find where your material fits
Explore the site. There are eight main menu items, all of which have submenus. That means there are 25 different places that might fit your stuff. It may even fit in more than one place…
If you want to share profiles, stories or tributes of particular women, they will likely fit in one of these sections:
AWR also accepts guest blog posts; here are some examples:
Lists, or "top 10" type articles, are really popular, get lots of traffic, and are easy for us to promote. There are several types of list articles: tips, how to's, resources, interesting items, images, logos, and the like. Here are some examples of those kinds of articles:
- 21 Tips To Promote Personal Well Being
- 10 LOL Condom Ads
- 10 Things Men Can Do To Prevent Gender Violence
- 11 Lessons from Noah's Ark
Poetry and short stories fit under Poetry & Prose on the main menu. Causes, volunteerism, petitions and the like belong under guest blog posts on the main menu.
If your stuff doesn't fit in any of these categories, take a look around the site and see where it might fit in.
2) Write, style and format your material to fit
Model your material on the other articles in the section that you think best fits the material you want to post. Follow the format and style of those articles. (We wish we had time to edit your contribution, but sadly we don't, so your stuff should come to us ready to post.)
3) Include URLs for your links
We're happy to include links back to your blog, website, Facebook page, and/or Twitter account. But please provide the URLs, if we have search for the URLs, we probably won't, which means your article won't get posted. Include a maximum of three URLs/links per article, except in the case some kinds of list articles (like this one of online resources to empower girls), where I need several URLs for every item on the list.
4) Attach (separately) a clear photo, image or video link with the article
Model your material on the other articles in the section that you think best fits the material you want to post. Follow the format and style of those articles. (we wish we had time to edit your contribution, but sadly we don't, so your stuff should come to us ready to post.)
5) Include short (75-100 words) bio blurb & pic of you
Here's an example of the kind of bio we need to accompany a submission:
Uzma Atcha (aka @LHjunkie) is a 21-year-old firecracker, blogger and activist living in the UAE. She writes for Mideast Youth, manages the March 18 Movement campaign, and supremely commands Mideast Tunes, a platform for regional underground musicians and the subject of this article . Find her on Twitter or Facebook; read her recent AWR guest blog post here: Give Me Something To Defend.
Here's another one:
Karachi-born Muslim American Author Dilara Hafiz holds degrees from John Hopkins University and the London School of Economics. She has drawn upon her years of teaching weekend Islamic school, lecturing about Islam, and raising Muslim teenagers to contribute to The American Muslim Teenager’s Handbook, which she co-wrote with her daughter Yasmine and her son Imran.
Remember: you either need to provide us publicity in kind on your site AND run our "Featured on AWR" banner.
