Susan notes: this beautiful piece by Cory Eldridge found me in a roundabout way. Someone had posted a link to another story by Eldridge on a blog that I follow.
After I savoured the short essay, which I can only describe as one of the best pieces of writing about expat workers that I have ever read, I scrolled down to find the one below about two young Muslim girls in an American schoolyard. It's also beautiful. And particularly touching given the recent stabbing murder of Marwa Sherbini, 31, an Egyptian woman living in Germany.

If you are at first lonely, be patient. If you’ve not been alone much, or if when you were, you weren’t okay with it, then just wait.
You’ll find it’s fine to be alone once you’re embracing it.
We could start with the acceptable places, the bathroom, the coffee shop, the library. Where you can stall and read the paper, where you can get your caffeine fix and sit and stay there.

Susan notes: This story is frequently attributed to Jaroldeen Asplund Edwards I have tried (unsuccessfully), to verify its truth, but have been unable to confirm via any of the internet myth sites. I’ve also followed the thread of authorship, and sent emails to people who claim to have known the author or seen the “garden,” but so far have not received a reply. If anyone has proof that this story is fact and not fiction, I would be happy to have the information. In the meantime, enjoy!

Life does'nt treat us right that's what we always complain about,
all of us want our future to be bright, well no doubt..!
we never wanna settle for little,
that's why we refer to life as riddle & us soo stuck in the middle..!
some of us just go with the flow..
& some of us venture to make our own row..!
what we actually feel sometimes we are not allowed to do..!
people called parents are always on to you..!

Today celebrates the most beautiful women on the face of earth,
regarding the one who gave us all birth..!
she is the symbol of peace and love,
she gets this stature from up above..!
she makes us the person we are..!
she believes in us and makes us feel like a star..!
