Rosa DeLauro (Congresswoman)

rosa-delauro.jpgRosa L. DeLauro (born March 2, 1943) is the U.S. Representative for Connecticut's 3rd congressional district, serving since 1991. She is a member of the Democratic Party.

The district is based in New Haven, and includes most of that city's suburbs.

DeLauro was born to an Italian-American family in New Haven, and earned her high school diploma from The Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall in Milford, Connecticut.

She earned a bachelor's degree from Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York, as well as separate master's degrees from the London School of Economics and Columbia University.

DeLauro worked as an administrative assistant and chief of staff for Senator Chris Dodd and executive director of EMILY's List before entering the House.

Roseanne Barr (Actress/Comedian/Writer/Producer/Director)

roseanne-barr.jpgRoseanne Cherie Barr (born November 3, 1952) is an American actress, comedian, writer, television producer and director.

Barr won both an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her work on Roseanne. In addition, she has won six People's Choice Awards, three American Comedy Awards, a Kids Choice Award, a GLAAD Media Award, and the TV Land Innovator Award.

The oldest of four children, she was born in Salt Lake City to a working-class Jewish family. Her mother, Helen (née Davis), was a bookkeeper and cashier. Her father, Jerome Hershel “Jerry” Barr, worked in sales as a door-to-door salesman of household goods.

Barr's grandparents and great-grandparents were immigrants from Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania and Austria-Hungary, and her paternal grandfather changed his surname from "Borisofsky" to "Barr" upon entering the United States.

Hanna Rosin (Journalist/Author)

hannah-rosen.jpgHanna Rosin is a co-founder of DoubleX, a women's site connected to Slate. She is also a contributing editor at the Atlantic. She has written for the Washington Post, The New Yorker, GQ and New York after beginning her career as a staff writer for The New Republic.

Rosin has also appeared on Comedy Central's The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.. A character portrayed by actress Chloë Sevigny in the movie Shattered Glass about Rosin's colleague at The New Republic, Stephen Glass, was loosely based on Rosin.

Rosin is writing a book based on her 2010 Atlantic story, "The End of Men". In the past she has specialized in writing about religious-political issues, in particular the influence of evangelical Christians on the 2004 U.S. presidential campaign.

Ahn Trio (Classical Piano Trio)

ahn-trio.jpgThe Ahn Trio are three Korean American sisters who make up a classical piano trio. Their names are Angella (violin), Lucia (piano) and Maria (cello). Lucia and Maria are twins.

They were trained at Juilliard in New York. They achieved widespread recognition in the United States in 1987 when TIME Magazine featured them in a cover story about "Asian-American Whiz Kids".

In 2003, they were selected by People Magazine as three of the "50 Most Beautiful People" and have been featured in Vogue, GQ and in ads for GAP and Anne Klein.

Lucia, Angella, and Maria thrive on dissolving the barriers between art forms. They have fused their work with that of dancers, pop singers, DJs, painters, installation artists, photographers, lighting designers, ecologists, and even kite makers.
