Helen Gurley Brown (born February 18, 1922 in Green Forest, Arkansas), is an author, publisher, and businesswoman. She was editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine for 32 years.
In 1962, at the age of 40, she authored the bestselling book Sex and the Single Girl.
From 1965 to 1996, Erma Bombeck wrote over 4,000 newspaper columns chronicling the ordinary life of a midwestern suburban housewife with broad, and sometimes eloquent, humor.
By the 1970s, her columns were read, twice weekly, by thirty million readers of 900 newspapers of the U.S. and Canada. She was funny - very, very funny.
